Bachelor's and Master's theses

Theses by Bachelor's and Master's students play a central role in the development of new concepts. They offer the interesting option of going into depth beyond, but not away from, the project business, taking longer paths and generating new, useful knowledge.

The following is a small selection of such work:

• Consideration of biomass concepts in existing buildings
• Geothermal monitoring: possibilities for evaluating existing geothermal systems
• Multivalent systems (design, integration, mode of operation,...)
• Load profiling with solar computer
• Operation and use of groundwater heat pumps. Evaluation and comparison with air/water and brine/water heat pumps
• Operation and use of waste water heat pumps. Evaluation and comparison with air-to-water and brine-to-water heat pumps
• Regeneration of geothermal probe fields - investigation of various options (building cooling, solar thermal, PVT,...)
• Operation and possible applications of PVT collectors.
• Storage tank design and operation (effect of different buffer tank sizes on heat pump concepts (monovalent, bivalent,...); operating modes, etc.)
• Consideration of renewable steam generation (comparison of producers/energy sources, application limits, efficiencies, advantages and disadvantages, ...)
• Integration of ice storage in renewable energy systems
• Consideration of local heating network and district concepts
